Life

Carpentieri came to study architecture in Naples, where after years he worked as an organizer and agent for the group “Nuova Cultura”. In 1975 he founded the Teatro dei Mutamenti with friends , to which he belonged for five years. There he worked as a pure theater actor and director, primarily of contemporary plays (e.g. Rameau's nephew , Cabaret , Teatrino scientifico , Resurrection ). As a juror consolo in Gianni Amelio's Open Doors - whom he portrayed as a simple man from the country, whose humanity and understanding convinced the liberal judge - he began a late film career in 1990 as an important supporting actor in ambitious films of the Italian 1990s; after a brief reduction in his activity, he remained a sought-after character actor until the second half of the 2010s, occasionally also in television series. In 1995 Carpentieri became artistic director of the “Libera Scena Ensemble”.

For best supporting actor , Carpentieri received a Silver Ribbon for his role in Puerto Escondido in 1993 .
