Rennstieg (Sackwald)
The Rennstieg im Sackwald is a 48 km long, historical courier route in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony . It runs between Hildesheim and in Sackwald located Winzenburg .

It starts in the cathedral courtyard of Hildesheim. It then runs south over the Steinberg, the village of Diekholzen , the "Holy Forest", Eberholzen , the Wernershöhe and the 326 m high Hohe Schanze to the ruins of the Winzenburg, which was razed in the 16th century .
history
It was first mentioned in a document in the 9th century AD. The re-inauguration of the restored path, which is signposted as a hiking trail, took place on July 14, 2002 by the Hildesheim branch of the Harz Club .
