Repsold is an impact crater on the extreme western edge of the front of the moon , so it is sometimes invisible as a result of the libration and, when visible from Earth, is strongly distorted. It is located on the western edge of Oceanus Procellarum , southeast of Volta crater and east of Galvani . The western edge is from the secondary craters Repsold G covers.
The crater floor is reasonably flat, apart from a system of lunar grooves , the Rimae Repsold . The most prominent of these grooves runs through the crater from northeast to southwest, runs across Repsold G and ends in Galvani crater. With its fracture system, Repsold belongs to the floor-fractured crater type (class V).
