The Resolution 452 (1979) of the Security Council addresses the illegality of the Israeli settlements in the Palestinian territories of East Jerusalem , the West Bank , the Gaza Strip and the Golan Heights .

The resolution states that Israel's policy of establishing settlements in the occupied Arab territories is illegal and disregards the fourth Geneva Convention for the Protection of Civilians in Times of War of August 12, 1949. It urges the Israeli government and people to end the establishment, construction and planning of settlements in the Arab territories, including Jerusalem.

The resolution was adopted on July 20, 1979 at the 2159th session of the UN Security Council by 14 votes in favor, no against, with one abstention ( United States ).
