The Golan Heights

The resolution 497 of the UN Security Council (from 17th December 1981 ) demanded that Israel , its annexation of the Golan Heights to undo.

The main message of the resolution is the statement that "the Israeli decision to establish its laws, judiciary and administration in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights is null and void and has no international legal effect" (Section 1).

The resolution also underlines that the Fourth Geneva Convention on the Protection of Civilians in Time of War remains in force in the Syrian territory occupied by Israel since June 1967.
