The Resolution Point is a headland on the northeast end of Cook Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands . It marks the western limit of the passage through the Maurice Channel .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped and named them in 1930, naming them after the HMS resolution with which British navigator James Cook discovered part of the South Sandwich Islands in 1775.
