Marcus Claudius Restitutus

Marcus Claudius Restitutus (full name form Marcus Claudius Quinti filius Quirina Restitutus ) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD . Individual stations of his career are known through an inscription that was found at Cirta and which is dated to 138/161.

Restitutus began his military career as prefect of the Cohors I Gaetulorum , which was stationed in the province of Syria . Subsequently he was a tribune in the Legio VII Gemina , whose main camp was in León . He then took on civil functions in administration. For his first position he returned to Syria , where he was responsible for the financial control of the free cities in the province ( ad putandas rationes Syriae civitatium ); this post was associated with an annual income of 60,000 sesterces . Next he took over the direction of Ludus Matutinus in Rome . Afterwards he was in North Africa as Procurator Augusti responsible for the administration of the districts Hadrumetum and Theveste ( dioeceseos regionis Hadrumetinae et Thevestinae ).

Restitutus was inscribed in the Quirina tribe .
