The Revolution March is a march by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 54). The exact date and place of the premiere are not known. The premiere took place before June 1848. The first recorded performance took place in the Casino Zögernitz in Döbling at the beginning of June 1848.

Remarks

The march was written against the backdrop of the revolution of 1848 . In contrast to his father , the young Strauss sympathized with the revolutionary movement. For this reason he composed the Victory March of the Revolution , which was soon given the name Revolution March . The march was played many times during the revolution. Incidentally, Strauss junior expressed his sympathy for the revolution with several works at that time. But he was not an active participant in revolutionary acts. After the failure of the movement, he did everything in his power to forget his earlier attitude towards the revolution. This earned him the title of court ball music director in 1863 .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 36 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
