Revolver is a German-language film magazine. Revolver focuses on interviews with filmmakers and texts by filmmakers. The magazine sees itself as an instrument to provide a deeper insight into the thinking and the concrete working methods of filmmakers from all over the world. Another aim is to promote public discussion about film and cinema in Germany. In this respect, Revolver sees itself as a film policy magazine.

Revolver was founded in 1998 by Benjamin Heisenberg , Christoph Hochhäusler and Sebastian Kutzli in Munich. In the meantime the seat of the GbR has been relocated to Berlin. The editors are currently Jens Börner, Benjamin Heisenberg, Christoph Hochhäusler, Franz Müller , Nicolas Wackerbarth , Saskia Walker and Marcus Seibert . Other editors are Hannes Brühwiler and Zsuzsanna Kiraly . All “Revolver” employees work on a voluntary basis.

Revolver is published every six months in A6 format by the publishers of the authors . There are now 39 editions and an anthology of out-of-print texts from the first 14 editions, cinema must be dangerous (publisher of the authors).

In addition to the magazine, Revolver and “Filmgalerie 451” occasionally bring out films on DVD that were not previously available on the German DVD market or were not subtitled in German.

Some of the interviews that appear in the magazine are conducted publicly as "Revolver Live" events in cooperation with the Volksbühne or the Arsenal Kino in Berlin.

In 2009 Revolver was awarded the DEFA Prize for promoting young artists.
