Reynaldo Creagh

Reynaldo Creagh Verane (born July 9, 1918 in Santiago de Cuba , † November 16, 2014 ) was a Cuban singer. As a child he sang at cigar and rum manufacturers. He later worked as a conductor on the Havana - Santiago de Cuba railway line .

Musical career

In 1938 he had his first appearance in the septet "Sonora". In 1962 he was a founding member of the " Orquestra Estudiantina Invasora ". He was also involved in founding the " Vieja Trova Santiaguera " in 1994. The film “Lágrimas Negras” (1997 NL / Cuba; director: Sonia Herman Dolz) tells the story of the musicians. In 2007 Creagh was the focus of the film "Los reyes del son" (Positivation Films, Production: Cynthia Biestek). In 2012, at the age of 93, he appeared as the oldest member of the ensemble “ The Bar at Buena Vista ” in Europe. He was considered an indispensable figure in traditional Cuban music. Reynaldo Creagh died in November 2014 at the age of 96.
