Recipe (automation technology)
In automation technology, a recipe is a collection of parameters that are functionally or process-related. ISA-88 (title: Batch Control ) defines models and terms for recipes in batch-oriented production.
Recipes are executed in plants with recipe control systems , where they are mostly managed in files. For automated processes, the recipe should not be confused with the actual control program, which may, however, call up the recipe parameters as setpoint specifications according to its programming.
A recipe usually stands for a specific product or type of product to be produced. Prepared, saved recipes can be called up if necessary (e.g. a product change). This procedure minimizes set-up times and has therefore largely replaced recurring manual entries. In addition, it supports the reproducibility of production processes.
Recipe management systems can be found across all industries. They are not limited to blending processes (chemistry, food industry), as the use of the term “recipe” in culinary art might suggest. Depending on the application, parameters are used for all conceivable quantities, such as B. Temperature, humidity, speed, speed, distance, pressure, number, time, weight, codes for operating modes of machine parts and text (e.g. for labeling on the product packaging)
