Rheidt

Rheidt is a southern district of Niederkassel in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The place is on the Rhine between the city center and Mondorf . A little over 10,700 people live here.

history

Rheidt was first mentioned in 832 as "Reide". In 1285 Rheidt came to the House of Heinsberg-Löwenberg and in 1484 to the Duchy of Berg . The landlord was St. Cassius in Bonn , who also owned the church. Since 1389, the Siegburg monastery owned a farm in Rheidt. In 1555, Rheidt was the seat of a regional court in the Bergisches Amt Löwenburg . In the years 1375-1457 there were mills in the Rhine before Rheidt.

After the Second World War , an electrical industry plant with 160 employees was established in Rheidt (1953).

In 1967 Rheidt had 4,332 inhabitants, 114 of whom were employed in agriculture and forestry, 1,010 in manufacturing and 347 in the service sector. 999 outbound commuters were compared to 244 inbound commuters. 521 employees were employed in nine industrial companies. In 1967 there were public facilities: an elementary school, a sports field, a kindergarten, a library and a community care station. Rheidt also owns a number of companies.

On August 1, 1969, Rheidt was incorporated into Niederkassel.

Public facilities

Rheidt has a primary school and three kindergartens. The “Rheidter Werth” peninsula with green spaces lies between the Rhine and its “Rheidter Laach” arm. The catholic church St. Dionysius is worth seeing . Otto Linnemann from Frankfurt created the glass windows for the church in 1925 .

The soccer club JFC 09 Mondorf-Rheidt is based in Rheidt, as is the soccer club Hertha Rheidt, which has been running an American football department since the beginning of 2017. The newly established department is headed by the two founders Timo Schulze (team leader) and Andreas Feuser (head coach).

Likewise the Aero-Club Rheidt 1969 e. V. for the promotion of model aircraft sports and the fish protection, nature conservation and fishing sport club Rheidt e. V. 1926 (ASV Rheidt e.V.).

In addition, one of the largest tribes from the German Scout Association Mosaik , tribe Wikinger, is resident in Rheidt .
