Location of Lülsdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia |
Lülsdorf is a district of Niederkassel in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district with almost 10,000 inhabitants.
geography
Lülsdorf is located in the north-west of the city on the right bank of the Rhine . The village extends on an island terrace, which has emerged as a result of a former arm of the Rhine east of Lülsdorf.
history
The first documentary mention as Lullestorp comes from a document of the Cologne cathedral chapter between 1193 and 1197. The personal names lulle or lullo probably gave the village its name at that time. Even before the original location of Lülsdorf, Gut Hüsgen was named in 1128, which was later integrated into the settlement area of Lülsdorf. However, before the 2nd millennium, in the Franconian period, there was a settlement southeast of today's town center.
In the 12th and 13th centuries, Lülsdorf Castle was built as the seat of the Lords of Lülsdorf.
On August 1, 1969, Lülsdorf was incorporated into Niederkassel.
