Ranzel is a district of Niederkassel in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The place is in the northern neighborhood of the city center, east of the Lülsdorf district and west of the Uckendorf district . In addition, Ranzel borders three districts of Cologne, namely Langel to the northwest , Zündorf to the north and Libur to the northeast . A little over 5,500 people live in Ranzel (as of September 2015).

Ranzel has a primary school, a kindergarten, an integrative day-care center and a fire station . Worth seeing are the Weilerhof from the 14th century, the Aegidius Tower from the 12th century and the Catholic branch church of St. Egidius .

Ranzel was first mentioned in 1128 as "Ransleithe".
