Heinrich Wiethase
Heinrich Johann Wiethase (born August 9, 1833 in Kassel , † December 7, 1893 in Cologne ) was a German architect ; he worked as a diocesan master builder for the Archdiocese of Cologne .
Life
After an initial apprenticeship with Georg Gottlob Ungewitter in Kassel , Wiethase worked in Cologne in the cathedral construction works under the cathedral master builder Vincenz Statz . After passing the masonry and stonemason examination, he worked under the direction of Julius Carl Raschdorff in the restoration of the Cologne Gürzenich . He then worked for the architect Friedrich von Schmidt , after which Wiethase studied as an intern at the Berlin Bauakademie , where he won the Schinkel Prize in 1861 . Although he was of a Protestant denomination, he became a diocesan master builder of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cologne due to his achievements and extensive building practice.
His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (lit. J, between lit. C + D).

Designs and constructions
Several hundred construction plans by Wiethase are in the historical archive of the city of Cologne and document u. a. many church buildings that he planned and built in the Rhineland .
