August Hartel
August Hartel (born February 26, 1844 in Cologne , † February 18, 1890 in Strasbourg ) was a German architect .
Hartel was a student and later an employee of Franz Schmitz . In Krefeld , he ran the Hartel & Quester office together with Theodor Quester (* 1843 in Cologne) , which, among other things , planned the Christ Church in Bochum in the neo-Gothic style in 1877 . He died a few months after his appointment as master builder at Strasbourg Cathedral .

- 1877–1879: Evangelical Christ Church in Bochum (destroyed except for the church tower in World War II)
- 1878–1879: Protestant cruciform church in Viersen
- 1878–1882: District war memorial for those who died in the wars of 1864, 1866 and 1870/1871 in the district of Kempen in Süchteln , Lobbericher Straße, on the Süchtelner Heights
- 1879–1881: Protestant Paulikirche in Mülheim an der Ruhr (demolished in 1971)
- 1881–1884: Protestant Nathanael Church in Leipzig-Lindenau (together with Constantin Lipsius )
- 1881–1882: Evangelical Luther Church in Essen (changed after war damage)
- 1881–1882: Protestant Stephanus Church in Essen-Überruhr (changed significantly after war damage)
- 1881–1885: Evangelical St. John's Church in Gera
- 1882: Competition design for the Mende fountain in Leipzig (together with Constantin Lipsius and the sculptor Christian Behrens ; awarded 2nd prize)
- 1882–1884: Protestant market church in Neuwied
- Competition 1877/1878, carried out 1882–1885: Protestant St. Peter's Church in Leipzig-Süd (together with Constantin Lipsius)
- 1885–1886: Protestant Church of the Redeemer in Rosenheim
- 1888: Competition design for the Protestant Christ Church in Cologne (executed by Heinrich Wiethase )
- 1888–1892: Building for the regional committee of the Reichslande Alsace-Lorraine in Strasbourg (today Théâtre national de Strasbourg ) (with Skjøld Neckelmann )
- 1889–1893: Roman Catholic St. Peter's Church in Strasbourg (with Skjøld Neckelmann)
- 1889–1895: University and State Library in Strasbourg (with Skjøld Neckelmann)
