The RheinSchwan is a passenger ferry operated by Weisbarth Schifffahrt OHG. It connects the left and right banks of the Rhine between Wesseling and Niederkassel - Lülsdorf and replaced the former ferry called Marienfels .

History and commitment

The ship was built by the Lux shipyard in Mondorf and was launched at the end of September 2017. The ferry was christened on October 14, 2017. It made its maiden voyage on the same day and has been in regular use ever since. At the height of the Rhine kilometer 669, the route between the jetty on the left bank of the Rhine in Wesseling below the Rheinpark at the level of Germanusstrasse and the pier on the right bank of the Rhine in Lülsdorf at the level of the Uferstrasse / Schneppenweg is currently being driven. A shortening of the route is planned; however, a new pier has to be built in Niederkassel.

The predecessor of the RheinSchwan was offered for sale on Ebay .

construction

The Rhein Schwan is 26.60 meters in length and 6.40 meters in width substantially greater than the previous ship. It is approved for 100 people. It is driven by two Schottel rudder propellers of the type SRP 50 with four-bladed screws. As a convertible deck, the passenger deck is provided with a collapsible, transparent roof. When the weather is good, passengers sit outside.
