history

Hugo Sterner took over the management of the porcelain factory in 1894 after the death of his father. At that time, production comprised hotel china, table and coffee china, and wash china. In 1898 export articles and porcelain photographs were added to the production program. Hugo Sterner founded Rheinische Porzellanfabrik GmbH in Mannheim in 1899. Both companies were still based at the old address in Mannheim. Hugo Sterner was also the managing director of the new company.

In 1901, Sebald Salmony was appointed to the management of both companies. The production of the Rheinische Porzellanfabrik was relocated to Mannheim, to Sandgewann 8. In 1902 the factories of both companies were relocated to Käfertaler Siemensstraße. The residence of the Jewish Sterner family remained M 2, 17 in Mannheim. In a letter dated November 6, 1933 to the Mannheim District Court, Hugo Sterner declared the liquidation of Rheinische Porzellanfabrik GmbH, Mannheim, and thus its removal from the commercial register. He proposed himself as liquidator. The Moritz Sterner company, Porzellanmanufactur, Mannheim, remained in existence for the time being.
