Rhineland-Palatinate Bibliography

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rhineland-Palatinate Bibliography is a regional literature documentation that has been created since 1991 on behalf of the Ministry for Education, Science, Further Education and Culture of Rhineland-Palatinate . It records books, articles from magazines, yearbooks, daily and weekly newspapers, individual contributions from compilations and online publications such as websites. For the listing in the Rhineland-Palatinate Bibliography, all publications from all epochs that have a content-related relationship to the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, to individual regions, people or places are taken into account.

Contributing Libraries

The bibliography is developed jointly by employees of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Library Center at the State Libraries in Speyer and Koblenz and the City Libraries in Mainz and Trier. The individual libraries are primarily responsible for literature from and about their region. Around 1400 journals from the reporting period 1991 to the present day and other ongoing works are looked through and are included in the list of journals and compilations evaluated.

history

The first printed volume of the bibliography was published by Trier Spee-Verlag in 1992, reporting year 1991. In 1996 a volume of the RPB was offered on the Internet as an HTML file for the first time, and in 1998 it was activated as a free Internet database. With the reporting year 2000 the printing of the bibliography was stopped. In 2001 the RPB was the pilot partner of the Virtual German State Bibliography with the Baden-Württemberg State Bibliography . In 2004 the revised online database of the RPB went into operation, with which the use of authority data and the search for subject and location systematics could be implemented. In 2007, the two previous bibliographies , the Middle Rhine-Moselland Bibliography and the Bibliography of the Palatinate and Saarland 1927–1950 , both of which were available as retro-converted databases, were imported into the RPB. As a result, further printed predecessor bibliographies were retro-digitized in semi-automatic processes and integrated into the RPB, so that around 495,000 references could be searched in the database in August 2019.
