The Rheinlandhalle is an ice rink in the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Krefeld . It was built in 1936 on what was then Hindenburgstrasse and opened on November 7th of that year under the name "Hindenburg Stadium". In 1947 the hall was completely renovated and rebuilt in 1955. Since then it has been called the "Rheinlandhalle". It has a capacity of 6,714 spectators (2,783 of which are seated).
On February 1, 2001, the Krefeld City Council decided to build a new multi-purpose hall. The royal palace was built opposite the "old lady" Rheinlandhalle and opened in 2004.
On 3 December 2004, the last one took DEL game with the encounter Krefeld Penguins against Adler Mannheim instead. Today the Rheinlandhalle still serves as an ice rink and for training purposes. The EHC Krefeld Niederrhein plays its home games here.
In December 2006, the Rheinlandhalle was finally the venue for some DEL games again, as some of the Krefeld Pinguine games had to be relocated to the Rheinlandhalle due to a defect in the Königpalast in December 2006 and January 2007.
