Ricardo Islas (born June 23, 1951 or 1952 in Uruguay) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Player career
society
Islas joined Uruguay's top club Nacional at the age of 16 . He was also a member of this in 1971. In the course of his career, he also played for competitor Peñarol and other clubs in his home country. He later moved to Venezuela , where he joined Atlético San Cristóbal in 1980 at the age of 28 . Due to an injury, he finally had to end his active career.
National team
Islas was part of the Uruguayan junior national team , which took part in the 1971 South American Junior Championship in Paraguay and finished second. With four goals scored, he was level with Paraguayan Cristóbal Maldonado top scorer of the tournament. During the tournament he was used by coach Rodolfo Zamora five times.

Coaching
After completing his sporting career, he stayed in San Cristóbal and settled there. His first coaching position was as assistant to Walter "Cata" Roque at Atlético San Cristóbal. Since 2004 he has worked as a coach at the Juan Maria Villanueva junior soccer school .
