Richard Flockenhaus (born June 23, 1876 in Forst (Lausitz) ; † July 3, 1943 in Berlin-Steglitz ) was a German painter, etcher and wood cutter.

Richard Flockenhaus attended the grammar school in Cottbus and the Luisenstädtisches grammar school in Berlin . After graduating from high school, he studied at the Royal Art School in Berlin and at the Academy in Amsterdam .

After graduating, he first worked in the arts and crafts, designing a. a. Wallpaper pattern. He later illustrated books for children and young people.

After the outbreak of the First World War he was called to military service, took. among others in the Battle of the Somme (July 1 - November 18, 1916).

After the World War he worked as a freelance artist in Berlin. He created relatively few oil and gouache pictures, worked intensively with etching, since 1930 with woodcuts, and also illustrated books.

He also designed the windows in the sacristy of the Birkenwerder church and the painting of the altar niche in Hennigsdorf .

The museum association of his hometown Forst (Lausitz) organized an exhibition on the 60th anniversary of the artist's death from May 14th to August 15th, 2004.
