Richard Harold Naylor
Richard Harold Naylor (* 1889 in London ; † 1952 ) was a British astrologer and journalist. He is considered to be the first astrologer to create horoscopes based on the zodiac signs based on the birthday and the inventor of the newspaper horoscope.
On August 24, 1930, Naylor published a detailed horoscope for the newborn Princess Margaret on the Sunday Express and in the same post predicted various events for the current week. Since the article, according to the Sunday Express, had received a great response from readers, Naylor published a follow-up article on August 31 with birthday-dependent astrological predictions for people who were born in September. A corresponding article for people whose birthday was in October followed on October 5th. From October 12th it became a weekly column.
The column contained references to the zodiac sign from 1935. Gradually, Naylor developed the concept of making predictions no longer depending on the day of birth, but on the zodiac sign. Since then, his concept has been adopted by numerous newspapers and magazines.
