Richard Harrington (* 4. November 1957 in Leeds ) is a British politician of the Conservative Party .

Life

Harrington has been a MP in the British House of Commons since 2010. From July 17, 2016 to June 14, 2017, he was Undersecretary of State in the Department for Work and Pensions in the May I cabinet . Harrington was expelled from the Conservative Party on September 4, 2019 due to his parliamentary opposition to a Brexit without an EU exit agreement. Shortly thereafter, he announced that he would not run for a seat in parliament again in the next general election. Harrington is married with two children.
