Richard Krentzlin
Emil Heinrich Richard Krentzlin (born November 27, 1864 in Magdeburg , † November 27, 1956 in Hessisch Oldendorf ), pseudonym Bernhard Schumann , was a German piano teacher , pianist , arranger and composer . His piano school The Young Pianist ( The young pianist: practical course for beginners, with special consideration of the folk song ) first appeared in 1898 and is still considered one of the standard works of teaching literature to this day.
Krentzlin studied piano and music theory at Kullak's New Academy of Music in Berlin and worked as a teacher for many years.
He is the editor of many easily playable anthologies for piano, such as B. a three-volume collection Strauss for the youth ( Strauss for the youth; the most beautiful waltzes and dance melodies by Strauss, Millöcker, Genée, Suppé, Zeller and others, in easy piano setting ) and the two-volume collection of operas and operettas .
