Richard Leder is a former German automobile racing driver .

Career

Richard Leder started his racing career in touring car racing in the late 1960s . In 1970 and 1971 he drove a Porsche 911 in the German Automobile Circuit Championship (DARM) and several individual races.

From 1972 to 1976 he competed in the German Racing Championship (DRM). In his first year he competed in the 2nd division with a Porsche 911 S. From 1973, when he switched to a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR , he started there in the 1st division and in 1975 achieved his best result of the season in the racing series with 19th place overall. In 1976 Leder started in the DRM with a Porsche 934 .

From 1972 to 1975 he drove in the European Championship for GT vehicles. There he mainly competed in Grand Prix races in Hockenheim and in 1975 at the Norisring in Nuremberg.

In the Interserie , Leder contested only one race, which he finished in 1973 with a Porsche 908 in Hockenheim with an 18th place.

He celebrated his greatest successes in the German Automobile Circuit Trophy (DARM). There he drove from 1974 to 1976 with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR and last year with a Porsche 934. In 1974 he won there in Wunstorf, Mainz-Finthen and on the Avus. A year later he was able to achieve a class win in the GT + 2.0 class and a victory in Ulm on the Avus. In his last year he was able to repeat the overall victory on the Avus.

During his racing career, Leder also competed in a long-distance race. In 1976 he and Manrico Zanuso drove a Porsche 934 in the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring in the sports car world championship . There both had to give up the race prematurely because of an accident after the first lap. This race was also his last race.
