Richard Salwey

Richard Salwey (* 1615 ; † 1685 ) was an English politician.

Life

Richard Salwey was the fourth son of Humphrey Salwey and his wife Anne, the second daughter of Edward Littleton . He had four brothers, including Edward Salwey , and three sisters.

Salwey was a follower of Oliver Cromwell . From 1645 to 1653 he was a member of the House of Commons for the constituency of Appleby. In 1653 he was appointed a member of the Barebones Parliament , where he represented the constituency of Worcestershire. In addition, Salwey belonged to the third and fourth council of state from 1651 to 1652 . In 1654 he was mayor of Worcester . In 1659 he was again a member of the council of state .

He married Anne Waring, the daughter of the London councilor Richard Waring. The marriage produced five sons and two daughters. British MP Henry Salwey is his great-great-great-grandson.
