Richard Zeckwer

Richard Zeckwer (born April 30, 1850 in Stendal , † December 30, 1922 in Philadelphia ) was an American composer of German origin.

Zeckwer studied at the Leipzig Conservatory . In 1870 he settled in Philadelphia as an organist and music teacher. From 1876 to 1917 he directed the Philadelphia Musical Academy . He composed two overtures , a string quartet , a violin and four piano sonatas, piano pieces and songs . His son Camille Zeckwer also became known as a composer.
