Richie Malone (born March 18, 1986 in Ballybrack , Dublin ) is an Irish rock musician . He has been the rhythm guitarist for the English rock band Status Quo since 2016 .

Life

Malone is from Ballybrack in South Dublin . He was initially the front man of the rock band Raid from Dublin. As a longtime fan of Status Quo, he was on friendly terms with the members of the band for a long time. In July 2016, he took over the role of Rick Parfitt at Status Quo , who left for health reasons and died in December of that year. He made his first appearance with Status Quo in July 2016 in Leuven . He has been a permanent member of the group since Parfitt's death. On the Status Quo album Backbone, two songs were penned by the Irishman, one of which was released as a bonus track. Malone was also allowed to sing his track Get out of My Head, which is a novelty on a Status Quo album.

Malone and his wife Jessica have three daughters.
