History of the company

From the beginning until 1945

In 1895 Emil Richter and Ernst Frenzel founded the wholesaler for sewer gas and water pipe articles in Nuremberg with initially 10 employees. In 1901 a house in Munich followed. Between 1901 and 1936 branches followed in Erfurt, Augsburg, Würzburg and Regensburg. In 1921, Emil Richter's death led to a brief crisis. In 1929 the main building was opened in Würzburg. The company grew steadily over the next 25 years. The branches in Munich, Nuremberg and Würzburg were destroyed by the war, the branch in Erfurt was closed from 1945.

After 1945 until the present

From 1950 Richter + Frenzel expanded to Kempten, Landshut, Bamberg, Passau, Rosenheim, Ingolstadt, Aschaffenburg and Fulda. The TiefbauVertriebsGesellschaft (TVG) was founded in Reichertshofen in 1976. From 1984 further branches followed in Penzberg, Deggendorf, Freising, the TVG Neu-Ulm, Krumbach, Traunstein, Kassel, Schwandorf and Graefelfing. After reunification , the new federal states of Saxony and Thuringia began to open up the market. So in 1991 the house in Zwickau was established and in 1996 the Leipzig branch. Further locations were added in Ravensberg, Halle / Saale and Suhl. In 2007 Richter + Frenzel took over around 700 employees and 80 branches of the insolvent Schulte Group at eleven locations.

On October 1, 2010, Richter + Frenzel organized their own trade fair for the anniversary, the Rifa for skilled craftsmen in Nuremberg. Around 170 exhibitors from the fields of sanitary, heating, ventilation, installation, tools and fire protection presented their innovations.
