The Directive 2002/8 / EC of 6 February 2002 amending Directives 72/168 / EEC and 72/180 / EEC concerning the characteristics and minimum conditions for inspecting vegetable varieties or agricultural plant species is an amending Directive, which mainly serves to adapt the directives 72/168 / EEC and 72/180 / EEC, which were issued in 1972.

Legal basis

The European Commission has “ based on the Treaty establishing the European Community, based on Council Directive 70/457 / EEC of 29 September 1970 on a common catalog of varieties for agricultural plant species, most recently amended by Directive 98/96 / EC in particular on Article 7 Paragraph 2, based on Council Directive 70/458 / EEC of 29 September 1970 on the marketing of vegetable seeds, last amended by Directive 98/96 / EC, in particular on Article 7 Paragraph 2 ", Directive 2002 / 8 / EC issued.

purpose

The amendment of directives 72/168 / EEC and 72/180 / EEC and thus the enactment of Directive 2002/8 / EC became necessary because the administrative board of the Community Plant Variety Office established test guidelines for the testing of certain species. So that coherence could be re- established between the test guidelines on the one hand and the definition of the characteristics to which the tests for the individual species must at least extend, as well as the minimum requirements for carrying out the tests on the other, the necessary changes were made in the directive Enacted 2002/8 / EC.

Structure of the guideline

Directive 2002/8 / EC consists of six recitals and five articles:

Article 1: (Amendment of Directive 72/168 / EEC)

Article 2: (Amendment of Directive 72/180 / EEC)

Article 3: (Implementation in national law)

Article 4: (entry into force)

Article 5: (addressees)

The titles in brackets () above are not official article headings used in Directive 2002/8 / EC.
