Ricolf

Ricolf was bishop of Cologne between 762 and 777/782 . His death day is January 16, 777. Some lists of bishops mention 22 years of office. Other forms of the name are Richolfus, Ricolfus, Racholfus, Riculphus, Rihholf .

Life

During his episcopate, Ricolf donated the episcopal ordination to Bishop Alberich of Utrecht and the later bishop of Münster, Liudger , the ordination of priests . In a poem presumably written in England after 781, Alkuin praised the Father Ricvulfus in Cologne as a good host. In the Memorial books (Commemoratio) of Liege cathedral St. Lambert is a September 12 anniversary of the death as falsely as archbishop (archiepiscopus) designated Riculphi entered. It is possible that some of his deeds were assigned to the better-known successor Hildebald / Hildebold , the first archbishop of Cologne.
