Surprisingly, David Adeang took office on March 20, 2008. Since the new elections on April 26, the government again has a solid majority, so Akua was re-elected as speaker of parliament.

In the 2019 parliamentary election , Akua in the constituency of Anabar only achieved the fourth highest value in the vote count and thus missed the re-entry into parliament.
