Bolt (component)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In half-timbered construction, a transom is a short, horizontally running beam that is installed between two uprights by tapping .

It should ensure the distance between two adjacent stands. It runs parallel to the half-timbered threshold . The number of bars built into each compartment depends on the floor height and the type of compartment expansion. Two bars at the same distance are usually sufficient for normal storey heights. The bars are usually installed at the same height in each compartment, i.e. all around the building.

Only the compartments for windows and doors differ. In the window compartment, the lower bolt is called the parapet bolt and the upper bolt is called the lintel bolt . There is only the lintel bolt in the door locker. Their installation heights are determined by the corresponding components. The dimensions of the transom are usually adapted to the other beam thicknesses. The tenons are secured with wooden nails .
