A creasing matrix (also: Zurichtstreifen or channel Fertignute ) is a means which, when punching of cardboard and corrugated board is used.

use

These are strips that are attached to the crease lines on the punching tool; for this purpose, a plastic guide strip is glued to the front that fits the crease lines. The dressing strips themselves are also made of plastic (e.g. PVC ) or pressboard, sometimes also with a metal foil. The back of the strips is self-adhesive and is transferred to the base ( die plate, metal plate) by executing a working stroke of the punching machine .

In the usual form, there is a depression in the middle of the strip, the so-called crease channel . When punching cardboard or corrugated cardboard, mainly for the production of folding boxes, the folding lines are created by the creasing lines (blunt metal strips that are slightly less high than the punching knife) press the material into the recess.

Creasing devices are supplied in strips approx. 55 cm long or as rolls. Before attaching the crease lines to the crease lines, the creasing lines must be cut to the correct length, with the ends tapering at a 90 ° angle so that there are no gaps in the creasing lines running across corners. Some of the creasing arrangements are beveled at the ends so that they do not leave any visible pressure marks on the corrugated cardboard.

Sizes

Creasing alignments are produced with many different creasing channel sizes; the width ( groove width ) is usually between 1 mm and 5 mm, the depth ( groove height ) between 0.3 mm and 1.2 mm. The total width of the strip ( groove channel ) is usually 12 mm to 15 mm. The different sizes are used for processing cardboard boxes of different thicknesses or corrugated cardboard with different flute sizes and grammages ; they are usually produced with guide strips in different colors to avoid confusion.

As a rule of thumb for the correct size, the following applies: The crease groove width should be 1.5 times the material thickness plus the thickness of the crease lines, the crease groove height should be 0.05 mm above the material thickness. With corrugated cardboard, it is not the height of the intact corrugated cardboard that is decisive, but that of the compressed material.

If creasing lines are needed that are not curved downwards but upwards, countercreases are used; these have an elevation instead of the recess.

Manufacturer

Manufacturers of creasing devices include the companies CITO SYSTEM GmbH in Schwaig , August Graef GNU GmbH in Wuppertal (brand name: Pentra ), Channel Matrix Pic in Wellingborough , Trimplex Limited in Dartford (various brand names), ManMat in Ballasalla near Castletown (Isle of Man ) , SKOR in Chiesanuova (San Marino) and Kris in Milan .

Alternatives

An alternative to creasing arrangements, which have to be cut to the correct length by hand before punching and then attached, are reusable creasing dies (also: Rillma ready-made dies ), e.g. B. made of hard paper (Pertinax).
