Rimantas Kočiūnas

Rimantas Kočiūnas (* 1953 ) is a Lithuanian psychologist, professor , psychotherapist , one of the founders of existential psychology in the post-Soviet space.

Life

After graduating from high school, Rimantas Kočiūnas studied psychology at Vilnius University from 1970-1975 , where Albinas Bagdonas was its director . The spiritual development of Kočiūnas was significantly influenced by Alfonsas Gučas (1907–1988), head of the Department of Psychology. In 1984 he received his doctorate on the subject of "Investigation of Manifestations of Perceptual Asymmetry" (Russian. Исследование факторов проявления перцептивной ассиметрии ) at the State University in Saint Petersburg , Russia. He taught at the ISM University of Management and Economics . He teaches at Vilnius University.

Kočiūnas has lived in the southern Lithuanian spa town of Birštonas since 1996 , where he founded his institute for humanistic psychology .
