Rindermarkt (Augsburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The cattle market (also ox market ) in Augsburg served to supply the city with meat in the Middle Ages. From this point the cattle were driven to the slaughterhouse. The market was located on the old Heumarkt in Philippine-Welser-Straße until 1447 and was then located in Jakobervorstadt between the Jakobskirche and the Jakobertor .

Together with the Roßmarkt, the Sau and Kitzenmarkt and the fish market, the cattle market formed an important trading center for cattle and fish in Augsburg.
