The Rindestanzstraße is a street in Trier in the Mitte district . It runs between Christophstrasse and Sichelstrasse . At the end of it she comes across the alley Look around you .

On the street is the Mergener Hof , a former monastery courtyard that is used as a youth center. The archway of the complex is particularly striking in the street. In addition to the Mergener Hof, there are four other cultural monuments in the street.

The street is named after the name of a house that was mentioned in a document here in 1283. There are two definitions of terms for the word component "dance":

  • The word refers to mating or other games of the animals in the pasture. In many places there are also field names such as "Sautanz" or "Kälbertanz".
  • The word is derived from the Old High German dantz for thick make , as it still exists today in the word gedunsen .

There is a possibility that there was a cattle farmer's farm on this street, after whom the house was later named “Cattle Dance”.
