Ring Detexol

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ring-Detexol was a plant protection product manufactured and sold in the GDR .

properties

Ring-Detexol served as an insecticide used in forestry against so-called up and down caterpillars. The oil spray was based on the active ingredients lindane and DDT, which have since been banned because of their harmful environmental effects . Ring-Detexol, which acts as a touch and breath poison, was manufactured by the VEB Elektrochemisches Kombinat Bitterfeld . Ring-Detexol was very adhesive and would not wash off in the rain. The manufacturer stated a long duration of action.

application

Ring-Detexol was applied undiluted as a ring to the tree trunk using a ring spray device . The ring prevented caterpillars from climbing up and down the tree. The aim was to fight the caterpillars of nuns , pine moths , pine processionary moths and oak processional moths . Ring-Detexol could also be applied to tree trunks that were wet with rain. Since the ring was clearly visible even when wet, the liquid was not specially colored. To fight the nun, a 30 cm thick closed ring at a height of 3.50 to 4.00 meters had to be applied around the beginning of April. The pine moth should be fought with a ring at about chest height when it crawls from the tree into the ground at the end of October at the beginning of November or when it climbs up the tree again in February.

According to the manufacturer, the agent, which is highly toxic to insects, was harmless to humans and pets when used properly. In view of the harmful active ingredients, the information should be questioned. However, in the opinion of the manufacturer, face and hands should be protected during longer work with the agent.

Ring-Detexol was not allowed to be exposed to strong frost temperatures for a long time. However, it was possible to use it in winter. The manufacturer provided the agent in 20 kilogram demijohns .
