history

A predecessor organization was founded as the Ring of German Scout Associations on October 1, 1949, and was incorporated into WOSM on August 21, 1950. Members of the umbrella organization were at that time

At that time, the three founding associations - like the WOSM until the 1990s - were aimed exclusively at children and young people of the male sex.

After internal disputes in May 1971, the ring of German scout associations dissolved. With the DPSG, the BdP, which was split off from the BDP, and the VCP, which was created through the merger of the three Protestant scout associations, the umbrella association was re-established on January 1, 1973 as a ring of German scout associations and was once again included in the WOSM.

Since 2007 there has been a ring scarf for joint events of the ring, which is also used by the ring of German scout associations. For the 23rd World Scout Jamboree 2015 in Japan, all German scouts wore a common uniform scout costume for the first time .

In 2018 the youth movement of the Boy Scouts was awarded the International Peace Prize of Westphalia . Girl scouts and a boy scout from the RdP and the RDP accepted the award on behalf of all scouts.
