Ring binder with three rings

Ring binders bind perforated pages with the help of a ring mechanism. Several of the metal rings can be opened at the same time so that individual sheets can be removed or inserted. The most important fields of application are ring binders and file folders .

materials

Ring binders are made from different materials, the most important of which are:

Wrapped in cellophane
These ring binders consist of a one-piece gray cardboard, a printed sheet of paper and thin PP film. With these ring binders, the gray board is wrapped in cellophane with the printed and with the thin PP film . This cellophane-wrapped cardboard is then grooved twice so that a spine is created and the book can be opened and closed again later. The appropriate ring binder or folder mechanism is now riveted into this ring binder cover (this is what an almost finished ring binder is called without mechanics). These ring binders are also good to use as advertising media, as the sheets of paper can be printed using offset printing.
Made of soft PVC film
These ring binders are made of gray cardboard and soft PVC film. In these ring binders, the PVC film is welded around the gray board. The gray board consists of the three parts front cover, back and back cover. The welding results in three parts that are welded together. The appropriate ring binder or folder mechanism is now riveted into this ring binder cover. These ring binders can also be individually printed for advertising purposes. Possible printing variants are: screen printing , offset printing (for large quantities) and embossing .
Made of solid PP plastic
PP all-plastic ring binders are made from PP sheets. These panels are available in different strengths and qualities. They are grooved twice so that the three parts, front cover, back and back cover, are created again. The appropriate ring binder or folder mechanism is then riveted into this ring binder cover. Ring binders made from solid PP plastic can also be individually printed. Possible printing variants are: screen, offset and embossed printing.

There are DIN A4 ring binders on the market where a transparent film, open at the top, is welded onto the front cover or on all three sides of the outside, in order to enable the insertion of individually printed sheets or strips of paper.

Ring system

Ring binders with two to six rings with the following hole spacing in millimeters are common in trade:

A4 format
80-80-80 (4-ring system)
80    (classic 2-ring system as with the file folder )
Letter size (American)
108-108 (3-ring system, see picture)
DIN-A5 format
19-19-70-19-19 (Time-System, Filofax, Succes)
19-19-51-19-19 (Tempus, Mullberry, Bind)
45-65-45    (classic 4-ring system)
Smaller formats
19-19-38-19-19
