A ring saw , like the concrete chain saw , is used in the construction industry to create openings in stone or concrete walls. It is also used by professional rescue teams to rescue buried people from collapsed buildings. The SEEBA ( THW ), the AFDRU (Austrian Army) and the Dutch rescue team USAR.NL use the saw.

The vibration-free penetration into concrete structures considerably reduces the stress on buried people. In terms of noise, dust and debris exposure measured on dummies , diamond tools perform better than other tools.
