Ripoff Raskolnikov

Ripoff Raskolnikov (* 1955 in Linz ) is an Austrian blues musician , singer-songwriter and guitarist .

He was heavily influenced in his music by blues greats such as Muddy Waters and Skip James , as well as by various folk musicians.

At the beginning of his musical activity, Raskolnikov mainly played folk songs.

Over the past few years, Raskolnikov has changed his style. Blues predominates in his repertoire today. Unlike the traditional blues songs, where the lyrics are so generalized that the listener can identify with the singer, Raskolnikov takes a different approach.

His texts are written in the first person. Telling of self-experienced, consistently disappointing experiences that let some self-pity shine through.

Overall, Ripoff Raskolnikov is very reminiscent of Tom Waits . Both from the stage presence and from the content of the songs.

Raskolnikov performs in pubs, clubs and at blues festivals.
