Rise of Legions is a German strategy computer game of the genres Multiplayer Online Battle Arena and Tower Defense from 2019.

Gameplay

Two opposing teams have resources to place combat units and buildings in the game world, which are supposed to attack and destroy the base of the respective enemy. Through the tactical use of specialized units with individual advantages and disadvantages as well as the management of existing resources, superiority and ultimately victory can be achieved. A victory is rewarded with the distribution of virtual money and other items.

action

In order to be able to use units and buildings, each player must prepare a deck of cards. With such a deck, the player goes into a round in which the cards must be played at the right moment. Cards allow the use of certain types of units. The use of cards depends on the availability of the resources "Mana" and "Essence", which are generated automatically. A wasteful use of these resources limits the player's ability to act and usually means defeat.

Multiplayer and game modes

Rise of Legions is primarily intended as online multiplayer, but there is also a co-op mode in which a team competes against the AI. In the PvP area (in German player-versus-player ) there are 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 options for team size.

Game elements

A player's career consists of collecting the virtual currency "Credits" and "Crystals", which is the premium currency that can be bought with real money. By completing daily and weekly challenges, bonuses are distributed that also randomly generate cards.

In addition, cosmetic items can be purchased to change the player's profile picture or the appearance of the units.

Game world

Two islands are connected by bridges over which the mobile units move. On each island there is the base of a team, which is provided with a watchtower. In addition, there is another watchtower in front of each base, which fights approaching enemies. Mobile units can move by land or air to reach your destination.

On February 22, 2019, the game became available as part of Steam Early Access and reached the top 5 most-played free new releases in August 2019.
