Risk share

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The risk portion (also risk contribution) is the part of the insurance premium that is imputedly intended to finance the insurance benefits that the insurer has to provide for premature death or pension payments , insofar as these exceed the actuarial reserve capital of the insurance contract (risked capital). The risk portion is calculated by multiplying the death or survival probabilities from a life table with the risked capital. Depending on the statistical basis of the mortality table used, there may be differences between the insurers in the calculation of the risk share, which are also noticeable in the total insurance premium. More recently, some insurers have also tried to differentiate further according to risk characteristics such as B. smokers / non-smokers, which can influence the probability of death.
