Thuringian Cabaret Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Thuringian Cabaret Prize is a culture prize from the city of Meiningen .

The prize has been awarded annually since 1996 at the Meininger Cabaret Days for an outstanding performance by an artist in cabaret shown in the previous year . The prize figure is dedicated to "Meininger Georg" and designed after the patron of theater and music, Duke Georg II. The selection is made from among the artists who have participated in the cabaret days . After the festival, a jury consisting of the Friends of the Meininger Kleinkunsttage will compile a list with the names of the candidates . The artist with the most votes is then determined in a secret ballot. The result of the election and the name of the winner will be announced to the public a few months after the Cabaret Days. The award ceremony will take place during the following Cabaret Days in Meiningen. The winner then presents again excerpts from the award-winning program. The prize, endowed with 5,555.55 euros, is one of the highest individual prizes in German-speaking cabaret and is provided by the Rhön-Rennsteig-Sparkasse Meiningen and the Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen - Thüringen .
