MonacoBagage, 2014

MonacoBagage is a Munich music cabaret group. The formation was founded in the summer of 2002 by the double bass player, tuba player, singer and tap dancer Miene Costa. The group also consists of Andy Arnold (clarinet, soprano and baritone saxophone, flute, vocals), Johann Bengen (accordion, drums, bass clarinet, cajon, udu, guitar, vocals) and Martin Deubel (violin, funnel violin, ukulele, Recorder, vocals). Until 2008 the cabaret artist, singer and multi-instrumentalist Josef Brustmann was also part of the cast.

"MonacoBagage" have so far played over 400 stage, TV and radio appearances (as of April 2011). Among other things, they were several times in the BR show “ Ottis Schlachthof ”, at the 3-Sat festival “ Alles muss raus ” and at the Ö1 Danube Island Festival in Vienna .

style

With its wide-ranging mix of world music , Bavarian folk music , jazz , pop and classical music , which it combines with cabaret interludes, tap dancing and sometimes absurd puns, the quartet is also known beyond the borders of Bavaria. The thematic bandwidth of her pieces, composed individually or together by all band members, ranges from political and socially critical content to absurd interpersonal entanglements and Dadaist nonsense. All members play several instruments.
