Ritgen rear dam handle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ritgen hind dam handle (also Ritgen handle or hind dam handle ) is an obstetric technique that was developed by the German gynecologist Ferdinand von Ritgen (1787–1867). It is used to accelerate the passage of the head at the end of the birth . The midwife or doctor tries to protect the perineum with the fingertips of the right hand through the tissue between the anus and tailbone (Behind the perineum) to take hold of the child's chin through forceful pressure to push it towards the upper left hand (which regulates the passage speed of the head with the perineum protection).
