Rithem

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rithem is a desolate place between Werl and Westönnen .

It was mentioned in a document in 850 as a place of salt production in the Werl area.

Like many other places in the Middle Ages, the place fell victim to the great devastation process. It must have been a creeping, slow process. This began around 1300 . There are different theories about the reasons for leaving the place. One may have been the attraction of the fortified town of Werl.
