Location of the Ritter-von-Leeb barracks in Bavaria |
The Ritter-von-Leeb-Kaserne was a barracks of the Bundeswehr in Landsberg am Lech , which was named in 1965 after Field Marshal Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb .
It was built in 1957 and used by the 8th Mountain Artillery Regiment of the German Armed Forces and units of the US Army . As part of the troop reductions of the Bundeswehr, the Mountain Artillery Regiment 8 of the 1st Mountain Division was dissolved. The barracks were given up in 1992 and given to the city of Landsberg am Lech.
The site was temporarily used as a commercial area, and the “Obere Wiesen” residential area has been under construction there since 2003.
In the barracks, recordings were also made for the 9-part ZDF series “Beim Bund”, which dealt with everyday life in the Bundeswehr and was broadcast in 1982.
